Exciting Midweek North American Records
Deadpool & Wolverine had an incredibly successful run, with record-breaking grosses on multiple weekdays and ranking among the top days ever for July.

Ryan Reynolds is known for incorporating industry jokes into his Deadpool films. In the 2018 sequel, the irreverent antihero contemplates the possibility of surpassing the impressive $370.8 million box office earnings of Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ in North America. He wonders if his own films can become the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, without adjusting for inflation. Although Deadpool was a huge success worldwide, surpassing Passion of the Christ in global box office earnings, it fell short of achieving the same level of success in the United States.
Reynolds is about to experience an incredibly exciting weekend, all thanks to the success of Deadpool & Wolverine. This film has been breaking records left and right since its release a week ago, with impressive midweek earnings that have brought its total domestic revenue to an astonishing $298.3 million by Thursday. It's projected to earn an additional $85 million to $95 million this weekend, bringing its domestic total to $380 million to $390 million by Sunday, which will solidify its position as the highest-grossing R-rated film in the United States.
Based on the film's current trajectory, it seems possible that Deadpool & Wolverine might surpass Todd Phillips' 2019 blockbuster Joker (which earned 1.064 billion) to become the highest-grossing R-rated film ever. Several trade pundits are already predicting that the feature could have a successful theatrical run, potentially reaching a range of $1.1 - 1.2 billion.
